Full Membership Meeting – part of seminar simulcast Denver and Grand Junction

The meeting was called to order at 2:27pm by Guy Parker, CAVE President.
1.Board Vacancies
Three CAVE Board members have terms expiring: Guy Parker, Davey Price, and Jackie Thompson.
Eight nominees were introduced: Neal Jacquet, Linda Lee Gubbini, Candice Bundy, Ron Scovill Jr., Marilyn Jensen, Russ Searing and Rainer Thoma.
A mail-in ballot will be sent out to the full membership.
2. Winefest Report
Sarah reported that 2009 Winefest attendance was up 6.5% from last year, and a record number of wineries (53) participated.
A summary report will be mailed to the full membership with the ballot, as well as a survey questionnaire regarding Winefest.
3. CAVE Website
Tracy Eliasson gave an overview of the new CAVE website noting that it is more for internal use than for marketing purposes. Members will have a login and password.

4. Front Range Wine Festival
Guy noted that there is interest in developing a Front Range Wine Festival as a counterpart to Colorado Mountain Winefest. A number of people volunteered to work on a steering committee: Sarah Catlin and Sandi (Winefest staff), Linda Lee Gubbini in Palisade, Kris Brandt in Palisade, Tom Bueb, Tracey Eliasson, Julie Balistreri, Chelsea Farley, Rudy Duran, Ron and Monica Scovill.
5. Other items
Intern Program: Jackie Thompson suggested that the Board consider some sort of grant/scholarship program to help fund winery and vineyard interns. There was general support for the concept. Steve said there are about 8-12 students ea. Semester and there might be 1-3 who are interested in interning in Colorado. CSU is looking for grant funding.
January Horticultural Seminar: reminder that the January CAVE meeting will be held in conjunction with this meeting. Free for CAVE members. Theresa High said there is a winery tour during the 3-day Horticultural event.
Campaign Kick-Off Event: Steve Smith noted that there would be a campaign kick-off event for Scott McGinnis, candidate for Governor. Rep. McGinnis has been a 3rd District Congressman for 12 years, and present when the original winery legislation was adopted.
The business meeting portion of the seminar adjourned at 3:07 pm.
